Areas of support

My work is primarily grounded in long-term, depth-oriented psychotherapy, focusing on personality structure and the emotional processes that shape one’s experience.

The areas below describe my clinical interests and work. Our introductory call is an opportunity to discuss what brings you to therapy and whether we feel we are a good fit.

Anxiety and depression

I believe healing comes from understanding what the mind and body are trying to communicate, rather than merely eliminating symptoms. At times, when one symptom disappears, another emerges, attempting once again to give voice to an underlying need that has remained unheard. For this reason, my work is primarily grounded in long-term, depth-oriented psychotherapy, focusing on personality structure and the emotional processes that shape one’s experience.

Personality disorders and personality organisation

Work with personality disorders includes narcissistic personality disorder, borderline personality disorder and schizoid personality disorder.

My work is primarily informed by the Masterson Approach, a psychoanalytic psychotherapy that tailors therapeutic interventions to the individual’s underlying personality organisation. I feel particularly connected to this approach because it allows the client to occupy and shape the therapeutic space, while the therapist intervenes thoughtfully when needed, facilitating the gradual emergence of the true self.

Integrating this psychoanalytic framework into my practice has deepened my understanding of personality organisation, object relations, and the underlying relational patterns that shape an individual’s psychological experience.

Relationship problems and sexual difficulties

Relationship problems and sexual disorders form part of this work.

Relational patterns are often rooted in feelings and relational dynamics that have become all too familiar within one’s family. Without necessarily realising it, individuals may find themselves repeating familiar stories, recreating situations that expose them to the same feelings they experienced in their early relationships. In therapy, we take the time to distinguish between what belongs to the present and what has been brought into it from the past. We explore which voices have been internalised and which truly belong to the client’s authentic self.

I completed a 60-hour, 10-module sex therapy training with Prof. Dr. Sultan Doğan in 2024. The programme covers a broad range of topics, including anatomy, sexual dysfunctions, paraphilias, and treatment approaches.

Adolescence: socialisation, relationships and school

Psychotherapy for adolescents aged 13–18 is available in English and Turkish, with work on socialisation, relationship problems and school stress.

People often seek therapy when the coping mechanisms and relational patterns that once served them no longer provide the same sense of security or fulfilment. Therapy offers an opportunity to make room for feelings and needs that may have long gone unrecognised or unexpressed. As these parts of the self begin to emerge, individuals can gradually test new ways of being, gaining the freedom to express themselves authentically and experience greater spontaneity and playfulness in their lives.

Work and school stress

Alongside my psychoanalytic orientation, my background in Schema Therapy and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) allows me to integrate practical, present-focused interventions when appropriate. This enables me to address immediate difficulties while maintaining a deeper understanding of the unconscious patterns and relational dynamics that underlie them.

Migration, identity and belonging

I believe that therapists must take the time to understand the cultural values and norms that shape each client’s experiences, relationships, and sense of self.

For example, the importance of collectivistic values in some MENA cultural contexts may influence how individuals understand family obligations, interpersonal relationships, and their own needs. In my work, I aim to explore these cultural influences with each client rather than imposing assumptions based on their background. This allows me to consider how cultural expectations and social realities interact with the individual’s developmental history and internal psychological patterns. Ultimately, I believe therapy should not focus solely on helping individuals adapt to their environment, but should also create space to understand how that environment contributes to their psychological experiences.
